Overview

Deliverable D2.4 presents three technological toolkits developed to support co-creation and evidence-based mobility planning in ELABORATOR cities: the Diagnostic Mobility Labkit, the Mobility Citizen Science Kits and the MoveYourCity co-design videogame. Together, they combine in-street sensing, citizen-generated environmental data and gamified collaborative design. The tools are intended for discovery, implementation, demonstration and evaluation activities across the project’s 12 cities. For readers, the summary explains what each toolkit measures or enables, how it works and where it is intended to be applied.


Highlights

• Diagnostic Mobility Labkit: A portable, non-intrusive setup using market-ready outdoor sensors to measure pedestrian, cyclist, e-scooter and vehicle volumes, together with air quality, noise, greenhouse gases and weather conditions. Its data pipeline supports indicators such as modal split, Air Quality Index and heat or cold risk.

• Mobility Citizen Science Kits: Portable environmental sensing devices that measure variables including temperature, humidity, PM2.5 and PM10. Data can be visualised through the Smart Citizen website and app or integrated into other analysis tools through an API.

• MoveYourCity: A gamified participatory tool based on the Superbarrio Game. Players use 3D models of intervention areas to identify accessibility barriers and safety risks, place mobility solutions and examine indicative effects on safety, accessibility, inclusiveness, environmental impact and mobility experience.

• Planned city use: The Labkit primarily supports Zaragoza, with replication and advice in Copenhagen and Velenje. Citizen Science Kits are intended for citizen groups in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Trikala and Zaragoza, while MoveYourCity includes intervention-area models for Milan, Trikala and Zaragoza.


Conclusion

The deliverable shows how technological participation tools can connect local observations, citizen contributions and design choices with urban mobility decisions. At the time of the executive summary, the Labkit had been piloted in an open public space and reported in a conference paper, the Citizen Science Kits were planned for distribution to citizen groups, and the MoveYourCity beta was available in the Google Play Store. The document defines their intended application in later project work packages but does not yet report final city impact results.
